A skin lesion is an abnormal change in the normal character of the skin. It may happen on any part of the body and vary in size significantly. Common effects and disorders include rash, cysts, pus-filled sacs, blisters, swelling, discolourations, bumps, hardening, or any other change in or on the skin. Skin lesions notably result from a wide range of causes, as harmless as a small scrape to as serious as skin cancer which should be attended to immediately
There are many causes to skin lesions, for example, injury or a cut may develop complications. A number of infectious diseases cause rashes, and allergic reactions may be accompanied by itchy hives or rashes. Such changes can also appear as a by product of chronic conditions such as diabetes or autoimmune disorders.
